When is the best time to book a guided trip?

With keen knowledge of local species and fishing tactics that entice fish, our guide can put you on fish any time of the year. With this being said, there are certain months that naturally will be more bountiful due to stocking and feeding cycles. Spring fishing in April, May and June, as well as fall fishing in October and November, are some of our most popular trip bookings.

5

Can I keep the fish that I catch?

Our guided trips are catch and release only. Sustainable fishing practices are key to maintaining the natural environment and enjoying the fishing experience for many years to come! Your guide will demonstrate and educate clients on proper catch and release techniques for best practice.

6

Can I use my own equipment?

Yes. Clients are welcome to bring and use their own fishing/wading equipment on the guided trips. If this is your preference, please communicate this to your guide prior to the trip.

7

Can children participate in guided trips?

Absolutely! We allow children 10 years and older to participate in our guided fishing trips. We do ask that they be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the full length of the trip.

*We do have plans to add casting clinics for younger children and will update the site when those become available.

What is an Adapted Fishing Trip ?

Hook'n Lips AVL offers the unique opportunity for clients with physical impairments to participate in guided fishing trips that are adapted by a licensed physical therapist to meet their individual needs. These trips are provided only as single-person trips due to the level of attention required. Clients will participate in a pre-fishing physical screen to determine the level of impairment and how this will affect the client's fishing abilities. Weakness, balance deficits and coordination impairments will all be assessed to determine the best strategies for adapting equipment and environment to allow each client to fish as indepednently as possible. Fishing locations and casting techniques will be modified to improve catch rate and additional assist can be provided by gait belt, contact assist, or help with maneuvering adaptive equipment. It is our goal to limit barriers to the sport of fishing for individuals with physical limitations. Whether you're a skilled fisherman recovering from injury, or new to the sport and wanting learn the basics, we can get you on the water and catching fish safely.
